“Writing from personal life offers rich material. With a few cautions, permissions from yourself and sometimes others, you may write a story to be shared far beyond the few people who lived the moment. That can be rewarding to many readers. So, be brave. Write, and let your story run…” BRIAN KLEMST
The author of Abuse of Process has taken Mr. Klemst’s words to heart while exposing the legal abuse.in his own case. Though he was screwed by lawyers, he exposed their game.
There is an old saying, “Truth is stranger than fiction.” Abuse of Process is a fictional adaptation of what actually happened in the author's life.
All names have been changed for reasons that will become obvious as the book is read. Make no mistake, this story is a fictional account of real life events.
The novel tells of the misuse of the American legal system by a lawyer who made an administrative mistake. Rather than accept responsibility for his error, the lawyer tried to cover it up, which started a two-year legal battle.
There is another old saying, “In the end, the lawyers get it all.”
This story is no exception. This is a work of fiction with strands of truth woven into the tale. There is a personal side to the story which teases the author’s imagination, but the legal side is exactly how it came to be.
The small town, good ole boy judicial system made what happened “legal” by carefully worded rulings by courts at every level to protect one of its own.
The editorial team wanted to change the language, grammar, and sentence structure of Abuse of Process to comply with refinements one expects in a book. Billy insisted on keeping the text as written to create this fictional story as close to the truth as possible.
Much text in quotation marks is taken directly from court transcripts, depositions, letters, faxes between lawyers, and recorded phone calls. He weaved their words into dialog befitting story form.
This work of fiction was created by the author's imagination, completed and substantiated with actual court records.

Brandon Powell’s driving force was firmly focused on making a personal and financial comeback.
Once a successful entrepreneur, almost all was lost after a financially devastating divorce.
Brandon’s empire was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. He hoped to accomplish a complete reversal of fortune with the assistance of his longtime associate, wealthy business tycoon Nelson Powell, no relation.
Nelson promised financial backing to save Brandon’s shaky empire. But, before the deal could be finalized, Nelson placed certain unexpected conditions on Brandon, conditions the tycoon guaranteed would not only offer an immediate financial turnaround but would ensure Brandon would become a millionaire almost overnight.
But could Brandon agree to the additional, unorthodox conditions?
Legal complications surfaced as Brandon’s lawyers brought suit against Nelson. It would have been the first male on male sexual harassment lawsuit in the nation. One lawsuit after another piled up, each spiraling deeper into a corrupt, good ole boy southern legal system determined to protect its own.
During those difficult times, Brandon met Carmen and a once in a lifetime relationship was born.
This is a poignant story of one man's courage and his refusal to be a scapegoat for unethical lawyers. Brandon dodged a murder attempt, out-maneuvered a seasoned wealthy businessman, a posse of shady lawyers and a media corporate giant to regain his reputation and eventually expose the son of a Georgia Superior Court Judge.
Sometimes funny, romantic, sensual and sexy, but often heartbreaking and frustrating, the authentic nature of the story reveals a genuine legal abuse of power. But this time the lawyers do not "get it all," but they do get what they deserve.
